Chocolate Truffles


With the festive season around the corner comes lots of indulgence and lots of eating! I know I cant resist something rich dark and chocolatey – so here’s my healthier take on a famous sweet – the truffle. Its still rich, its dark and it tastes pretty sinful.

If you do plan on eating them all at once like i did then you may need to double the recipe ;-P


The Recipe 

The Ingredients

  • 2 cups dates pitted (I used the variety that comes without sugar syrup but are still moist)
  • ½ cup cacao powder
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon ground pecans
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • A pinch of salt

The Magic

  1. Put all the ingredients into a food processor and pulse, stopping every now and then to push the mixture down and until you’re left with something resembling fine breadcrumbs – if it’s not coming together then you can add some coconut oil.
  2. Turn out into a bowl and proceed to roll into small balls. I then coated my truffles in cacao powder, pistachios and goji berry powder – you can choose to coat them with anything you fancy or just leave them as is.

Store in the fridge for upto two weeks or start eating them in bed with a good book 🙂
