I’ve been wanting to make my own granola for a while now, but just haven’t got round to it. Every time I go shopping i read the back of the ready made granola packs and cringe when i look at the level of additives especially in terms of hidden sugars – even the really healthy ones still use a lot of cane sugar. BUT its convenient and sometimes you don’t have a choice but to buy them.Β Plus itsΒ always better to have something for breakfast rather than skipping it altogether.

Anyway, i finally made this today and its pretty tasty! I also know exactly what’s in it so i’m going to enjoy my breakfast knowing its super clean!

Heres the recipe:

 

500 grams of rolled oats

handful of raisins

handful of dried cranberries

five tablespoons chia seeds

2 handfuls of coconut shavings

1 dessertspoon of sea salt

5 tablespoons of agave/ or maple syrup

 

Mix all the ingredients onto a baking tray, ensuring its evenly spaced and bake at 140 C degrees for one hour stirring every 10 minutes to make sure it doesn’t get too browned and is baked all over. remove from oven and allow to cool completely before transferring to a jar.

Tastes great with icy cold milk or yoghurt and is a great preworkout snack too!
